Torso — Drawings
The image of the torso originated in a drawing Shahar made in adolescence, a body that was both a torso and a vase. Since then, it has continued to return and develop throughout her work over the years, appearing as a personal archetype across different drawing techniques, including ink, printmaking, and oil pastel.
In these works, the torso appears as a body without a face and without a defined time, an open form that allows questions of femininity, containment, and bodily memory to emerge. Returning to this image makes it possible to deconstruct it, reexamine it, and charge it with shifting meanings, between body and vessel, figure and symbol, and line and material.
